Live the food the staff and the food.. oh I said food twice .. can't take it back now. Very very good small town secret.

The good: Interesting menu items you don't normally see at Vietnamese restaurants, friendly staff, food arrived quickly, large portions.The not-so-good: Food just wasn't that good, and definitely overpriced. Dinner for four was nearly $100. We can get a much better meal at our favorite Vietnamese restaurant for half that price. The chicken in the Vietnamese crepe was completely unseasoned. What's up with that? We also felt a little rushed. 2.5 stars

Food was good, everyone at our table was happy. The service was pretty good. The only caveat is that the building is a little old and takes away from the ambiance.

I would not recommend this place. It was very expensive for the quality of cuisine. There were very few Vietnamese dishes on the menu, mostly "Chinese-Canadian." We are very open-minded about trying new places, but sometimes it backfires on us. We spent $70 on a meal (family of four including 7 and 3-year old who didn't really eat anything) and we got sweet & sour pork and lemongrass chicken. The pork was tough and not flavourful and it had cucumber in it. Hot cucumber! No thanks. There was no mention of that or even of zucchini on the menu, I checked. The chicken didn't taste bad, but had a processed-type texture. We also ordered a large wonton soup which we couldn't finish, and some steamed rice. When we asked for a to-go for the soup and rice, they only gave us a portion of the soup and added the rice to it! Very poor service there. The waitstaff were friendly and attentive, but overall, we will not return.

Food is excellent and service is pretty good but it's a little pricey for what you get. The atmosphere is nice but not superb. It feels like a diner but with good Vietnamese food.

Best food in Parkville! It is always excellent, every time, no matter what I choose. I have not found anything I haven't liked. I have my favourites, of course, Prawn Imperial, Seafood Curry, Bbq Beef and Spring Roll, Lettuce Wraps, Deep Fried Scallops, Wonton Soup, Coconut Salmon, but you really cannot make a bad choice - everything is awesome! If you like mussels, you must try the Mekong Mussels - the sauce is fantastic! There is a huge menu to choose from and all the curry dishes will be made to your preferred level of hotness, as well, with any of the spicy dishes. The Fried Banana for dessert is pretty special, and sometimes comes complimentary from the owner! This is our entire family's favourite restaurant. Absolutely the best!

Menu was interesting which is good. Service was fine. I ordered the Vietnamese crepe but it was so bland I had to steal sauce from my husband's plate to jazz it up a bit! The chicken chow mien we ordered for the kids was very good though. Maybe I just picked the wrong dish.

Top quality Vietnamese cusine in a relaxed atmosphere. Ample free parking. A tad pricey but worth every penny.

Excellent as always! Great service. Got the nicest compliment from our lovely server who loved how good our kids (6 & 9) table manners are. Nice to be recognized for teaching them proper manners and how to act in public . It was the kids choice for a dinner out. Great choice!! They love the food!and so do we.

They normally only serve Pho in the morning. Chef heard me asking for it at 4 in the aftn and went ahead and made me some anyway. Waiter was on top of his game and was a good resource for Pho related questions. Felt like family. We will be back.

My first visit . Service was ok - however, no spoons provided with our coffee so i had to use a chopstick for a stir stick and my meal came with a fork and spoon only and the veggies and tofu were large enough pieces it would have been nice to have a knife. I ordered a fresh roll and my mom had a spring roll - $7 and $9 respectively, pricey for a single roll! We went on the have a curry and the crispy chow main bowl. The meal was adequate although a bit of a disappointment, bland, but expensive and in my hometown of Powell River I can buy a much nicer meal with much better tasting food and much better service. I won’t go back again.

Surprisingly good food given the location. Fairly authentic Asian flavors in spite of the front staff being all non-Asian.

Great food, different than most vietnamese restaurants.

We went for dinner here while on vacation and were blown away by the food, experience, and staff. We had 2 young children with us and they engaged the children and made us feel comfortable to relax and enjoy our dinner no matter how chatty the kids were. The service was incredible from start to finish. We definitely recommend visiting and we'll be back again next time we're in town.

Delish hot n sour soup

Bad food, bad atmosphere and too expensive. We had to switch tables over to the other side of the building because there was a table of incredibly loud and crude drunks who knew the owner. No one ever apologized for the horrible atmosphere. I didn't like the food and will never go there again!

Worst service I’d ever experienced. We tried to place order and were given very bad attitude and rejected three times so we just got up and left. The food doesn’t look authentic at all and the service is horrible. Don’t waste your time or money here.

Little Gem of Asian cuisine out it the middle of outer Mongolia ( Vancouver Island) was a very pleasant surprise. Owner is an amazing chap who has travelled the world and loads of tips to share. He's a foodie and not shy on suggesting great places to eat on VI.

This is a great place for an interesting delicious meal. Always hot and fresh as well as tasty. The curries and the crispy chow mein bowl are fabulous. However, the prices have gone up way too high. We have stopped going but not on account of the amazing food, just the costs!

Food was excellent and the service was even better. Had the spicy chicken Stir fry and Pho, highly recommended and we will definitely be back.

When we walked in it was very busy but we felt welcomed by the staff who actively kept us up to speed on stealing time. Only was waiting for around ten minutes.Service was admittedly slower than I would have liked but understandable due to the high amount of customers. Servers were professional, friendly and very accommodating and put a smile on all our faces.The food was excellent. We ordered 4 separate dishes so we could all share. We got a large order of Wonton Soup, the house special sweet and sour pork, a dish of ginger beef and house special chicken Chow Mein, along with a bowl of rice. It was some of the best Chinese food I had in a very long time.The environment was friendly, all customers were enjoying themselves and all around it was a very pleasant experience. Great place for a dinner with a group of friends.The next time I come to Parksville I will make sure to stop here.

A Vietnamese restaurant that serves Chinese food. No Pho :( but the service was excellent and the food was delicious. The kitchen staff was very happy and even came out to say goodbye. :)

Went for dinner - wow! Fantastic food - one of the best curries I have ever had (get the beef - so tender!!), excellent, friendly service in a simple and clean decor. The menu has a lot of options for every palette. It's an Asian restaurant, so don't go expecting burgers, but they serve a huge variety of Asian styles. I would go there again in a heartbeat!

Really good food and great service and good prices!

The area isn't known for its ethic food. I was satisfied with this one. It's abit pricier than Vancouver area but it's probably the only place to get quality South East Asian food. I'm sad they don't serve pho.

When you think of Vietnamese food, you think some good cheap eats. That's not necessarily the case here, but HOLD YOUR HORSES!!! Mekong puts on a fine spread of dishes you don't see in your average Pho shop. Everything we had was delicious. I had the Vietnamese Omelette. Full of shrimp, sprouts and other veggies. It could have fed 2 of us, but I'm glad it only fed me.Sure it's a couple more bucks, but if that means the family that owns this place can have a good quality of life and maybe go on vacation once in a while, pull out your wallet partner. We've got some food to eat!!
